1928 Favor Truss Tube Roadster

1928 Favor Truss Tube Roadster

I didn’t really want any more bicycles. I’m trying to be more selective. But I’d just sold my friend Alain’s 1929 Favor ‘Tourisme’ 350cc Sidevalve motorcycle (below), so I suppose the manufacturer was fresh in his mind.

He was at a French autojumble and he phoned me to say he’d found a strange Favor bicycle and did I want it? I told him I have already too many bicycles …though I did ask him what was strange about it. Damn. I was just expanding this Iver Johnson website to include truss-style bicycles, and – co-incidentally – Alain found a bicycle with what appeared to be a truss tube frame. It wasn’t expensive, so he bought it for me. It has turned out to be an attractive 1920s gent’s roadster.

And it does have an interesting truss tube design on the down-tube.

But now I have even more than too many bikes.

Despite the chainguard, you can still make out, below, the FAVOR name on the chainwheel.
