1892 Clement & Cie ‘Modele 1892’
21 1/2″ Frame
30″ Equal Wheels
Standover Height: 31″ rising to 33″
The previous owner of this bicycle bought it in France forty years ago. When he moved to America, he took it with him, and I bought it from him there last year. Since it arrived in England, I have re-spoked one of the wheels and fitted new tyres. I’ve ridden it around Brighton.
The Clement Motor Bicycle was on the market in 1902 (sold as a Clement-Garrard in Great Britain).
1892 CLEMENT v 1889 PARR SEMI-DIAMOND CROSSFRAME
In the evolution of the bicycle, these pictures illustrate the transition from semi-diamond crossframe (the Parr on the right) to diamond frame styles. The triangulated rear ends of each bicycle are the same, but the front ends are a world apart.
