1947 Velo de Course d’Enfant TERROT

L'Ecole des Facteurs 1947 film

The Tour de France was cancelled during WW2. Although some unofficial Tour de France-style races had been held during WW2, the 34th Tour de France, from 25 June to 20 July 1947, was the first official tour since 1939. The total race distance was 21 stages over 4,640 km, ridden at an average speed of 31.412 km/h. Bicycles were very much in the popular imagination at this time, epitomised by Jacque Tati’s 1947 film, ‘L’Ecole des Facteurs.’

(Now sold)

I bought this beautiful Terrot from the man who owned it from new, in 1947. The chaincase is tarnished in places, but otherwise, apart from scratches here and there, this bicycle is in remarkable condition for its age.
