1929 Blotto 350cc Auto-Tri Commercial 3-Wheeler

350cc Anzani engine

(Now sold)

A Blotto is extremely rare anywhere in the World, even in France. Someone did the Paris-Dakar Rally on one in the 1990s, though that one had a modern engine fitted. Apart from that, I’ve not come across another. It’s surely one of the most unusual and unique pre-1930 vehicles in Great Britain today.

In the early days of the 20th Century Blotto Brothers had a good reputation in France for commercial delivery trikes.

So it was only logical for them to branch into motorized versions.

This ‘Auto-Tri’ – powered by a 350cc Anzani engine – was one of the first.

3-wheeled commercials were known as ‘triporteurs.’

And, in France, since the earliest days, there was a tradition of annual races of triporteurs through the streets of Paris.
